Midterm Review

Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl paragraph 16
The way in which a man accepts his fait in all the suffering it intells, the way in which he takes up his cross, gives him ample oppurtunity-even under the most difficult circumstances- to add a deeper meaning to his life. It may remain brave, dignified, and unselfish. Or in the bitter fight for self-preservation he may forget his human dignity and become no more than an animal. Here lies the chance for a man either to make use of or to forgo the opportunities of attaining the moral values that a difficult situation may afford him. And this decides whether he is worthy of his sufferings or not.

If you are in the worst of times that is when you can really tell whether or not you do appreciate your life. The author is saying that it is all in how you take the pain in life and make use of it, its how you make of it whether you turn it into good or take it as is and give up in life. In putting blame in everything, and not learning anything from the bad things then you are giving up by simply not trying to move on. People say that time changes people, and that is a good thing because if you just stay in one spot you will never see what else is out there for you. From pain you must take it and move on.
